AROMATHERAPY RECIPES

Aromatherapy is used to maintain and improve health, body, mind and spirit. Pure essential oils help improve health by working with your body in a natural way, and compliments most types of therapy, conventional or alternative.

Before you begin to use any pure essential oil we recommend that you test for sensitivity, especially if you have allergies or hay fever. Take one drop of essential oil mixed with one drop of carrier oil on a cotton swab. Dot it to the inside of your wrist or elbow, cover with a band-aide and wait 24 hours. If there is no reaction, you are most likely not allergic to that essential oil.

DID YOU KNOW? It takes approximately 5000 pounds of rose petals to make a pound of oil.......No wonder it's expensive.

WARNING

Never use undiluted essential oils on the skin. Never take orally or use without the supervision of a practitioner or when pregnant. Use caution if oil on skin is exposed to the sun, they can cause a serious sunburn! Please be aware that some oils such as citrus oils and bergamont can cause a serious reaction to your skin when exposed to the sun. USE CAUTION!!!

INGREDIENTS
DIRECTIONS
BATH FOR HEADACHE RELIEF 3 drops chamomile
3 drops lavender
2 drops marjoram
1 drop thyme
1 drop peppermint
1 tblsp milk or 100 proof vodka
Fill bath tub with vary warm water (NOT HOT). Mix 1 tblsp of milk or 100 proof vodka with the essential oils to prevent the oils from settling into 1 area, and disperse mixture in the tub once filled and before getting in. Soak, inhale deeply and relax for 20 - 30 minutes.
BATH FOR CELLULITE 3 drops lemon
2 drops cypress
2 drops fennel
2 drops rosemary
1 drop thyme
1 tblsp milk or 100 proof vodka
Fill tub with warm water (NOT HOT). Mix 1 tablsp of milk or 100 proof vodka with the essential oils to prevent the oils from settling into 1 area, and disperse mixture in the tub once filled and before getting in. Soak for 20 - 30 minutes. Dry yourself briskly with towel. This increases circulation and exfoliates as well.
STIMULATING FOOTBATH 2 drops sweet bay
2 drops ginger
2 drops peppermint
1 tblsp milk or 100 proof vodka
Mix 1 tblsp of milk or 100 proof modka with the essential oils to prevent the ols from settling into 1 area into a large bowl of hot water. Soak feet 10 - 15 minutes.
ALL NATURAL BODY POWDER 3 tblsp cornstarch
13 drops geranium
13 drops bergamot
13 drops of ylang ylang
In a clean glass jar add cornstarch. Add essential oils. Cap jar and gently shake to blend. Using a wooden spoon, break up any clumps that may form. Let sit for 2-3 days to allow essential oils to mingle and blend. Shake before using.

INSOMNIA ~ chamomile, true lavender, neroli, rose, rosewood, marjoram, sandalwood, mandarin orange
 
LOW IMMUNITY ~ true lavender, teatree, german chamomile
 
MUSCLE TENSION ~ lemongrass, marjoram
 
PMS ~ chamomile, clary sage, geranium, marjoram, neroli, true lavender, ylang ylang

FOR THE OFFICE
 
DRY/ITCHY EYES ~ tea tree - Infuse only (do not put in eyes!)
 
DRY THROAT ~ grapefruit, lemon

LETHARGY ~ grapefruit, eucalyptus, lemon
 
STUFFY NOSE ~ tea tree, rosemary
 
FOR GATHERINGS
 
GERANIUM ~ Relaxes, creates a good mood; use in small amounts
 
CLARY SAGE ~ Euphoric, rather masculine, relaxes and encourages conversation; use in small amounts
 
SANDALWOOD ~ Relaxes and encourages conversation
 
ROSE ~ Romantic, special, and extravagant
 
YLANG YLANG ~ Oriental, rather heady
 
TRY THIS .....
 
Blend 2 drops of clary sage, 2 drops of geranium and 1 drop of sandlewood. You will have a warm, relaxed evening with free flowing conversation. To add a little stimulation, try adding 2 - 4 drops of lemon or grapefruit.
 
MEASUREMENTS
 
Liquid ounces converted into other measurements.
 
20 drops - 1/3 teaspoon - 1 ml
100 drops - 1 teaspoon - 5 ml
2 teaspoons - 10 ml
3 teaspoons - 1 tablespoon - 15 ml
2 tablespoons - 30 ml
 
15 drops of essential oil in one tablespoon of a carrier oil will give you a 5% dilution.
 
These measurements are NOT exact since the size of the dropps may vary and some essential oils are thicker than others, but close enough for safe practice.
 
WHEN USING THE ESSENTIAL OILS ALWAYS DILUTE THEM
 
1 drop of an essential oil will not go far, but using a vegetable oil the essential oil will cover a larger area as well as reducing the risk of having a sensitive reaction.
