FLOWER ESSENCES: HOW THE FLOWER ESSENCES WORK
Each person has an energy field that is unique to that individual, akin to an "energetic fingerprint." This electromagnetic field surrounds every living thing - people, animals and plants.

In his book Vibrational Medicine, Dr. Richard Gerber states that the energy disturbances that occur in our energy field are often reflected in our physical body. As this process does not happen overnight, we have time to correct these patterns using therapeutic doses of "vibrational medicines." The flower essences are a very potent ally in this process as they are derived from living plants and contain a strong life force. It is this life force that effects the energy field and helps one to maintain a balanced and clear field.

Flower essences are sun infusions, prepared by placing the wildflower or blossom in a bowl of pure water where it is allowed to "steep" in the sun, then further diluted and preserved. Formulas can be preserved using alcohol, glycerin or apple cider vinegar.

Flower Essences are useful for: Relieve of stressful situations, Work-related stress, Travel anxiety, jet lag, Environmental toxins, Radiation exposure, Relieve of pain, Psychosomatic ailments, Strengthen immune system, Parenting, Relationships, Mental clarity, emotional issues, Challenging situations, Heightened spirituality, Personal growth work, Self awareness, self esteem, Commitment to change, Development of inner strength and other qualities, Meditation, Dreaming practices.

AROMATHERAPY: HOW DOES AROMATHERAPY WORK?
Through the sense of smell, essential oils stimulate the brain to release chemicals to reduce pain, create a feeling of well being, stimulate sexual arousal, act as a stimulant, change mood, increase memory and enhance creativity. Additionally, essential oils that are applied to the skin in a mixture with a base oil (i.e. grapeseed oil) have healing properties that can be used to stimulate the immune system. Subdue infection, fight fungus and viruses, reduce inflammation, raise or lower blood pressure, relax muscles, heal burns, soothe cramps and is even effective as an insecticide.

Although essential oils enjoy a broad range of applications, the type of purity of the oil selected for a particular condition must be chosen carefully for successful results. The purity of the oil is critical to its effectiveness and cannot be underestimated. It is crucial that the practitioner purchase oils from a reputable company that guarantees the purity of the oil.

Aromatherapy is safe for all ages when recommended by a skilled practitioner. It can even be safely used on pets. Although aromatherapy is used in Europe on pregnant women, it should only be used under the supervision of a skilled practitioner, since some oils can have an adverse effect. Other cautions with the use of oils include their use on newborns and those using homeopathic remedies. Aromatherapy can be utilized in the home, office, car, gym, hospital, property . . . There are not limits - just your imagination!

AROMATHERAPY IS USEFUL FOR: Relief of stressful situations, Work-related stress, Radiation exposure, Relief of pain, Strengthen immune system, Mental clarity, Meditation, dreaming practices, Decrease side effects of chemotherapy, Fight fungus, Fight infection, Promotes relaxation, Relieve from nightmares, Decrease high blood pressure, Skin conditions, Chest congestion, Healing of burns.

BREATHING EXERCISES
Breathing is something that we do at least 12 times a minute. Bringing air into our body inflates our lungs. nourishes our cells with oxygen and allows our body to function. Breathe is life, even when we sleep or if we were in a coma we still breathe. How we breathe is the key. Do we breath in a rapid shallow manner or control our breaths to induce relaxation and a peaceful state? There are many techniques that can be learned and practiced on a daily basis to induce the relaxation response and help one to stay in the moment. Often meditation techniques and breathing are partnered to help one reach a state of deep relaxation.

JOURNALING
Journaling is the simple act or putting our thoughts and feelings in written form. Some people will journal in a special book using a special pen, others will journal on a computer. Some will draw pictures or paste pictures or articles in their journal. Journaling is a journey for some to help them move forward and for others it is a look back to help them release trauma or stressful events that have caused anger or pain. Using this technique increases our self-awareness.

MEDITATION
Meditation is the practice of entering a relaxed state to allow us to live in the moment and practice self awareness and stress reduction (I often tell my clients that it is taking time to reboot the brain and body). It is frequently recommended by mainstream medical practitioners as well as alternative therapists because of its demonstrated healing effects on the central nervous system, heart rate, and level of muscular tension. It is also reputed to have benefits for the entire person: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. The time that one may engage in meditation may vary from five minutes to hours.

There are three major forms of meditation according to the Center for Mind, Body Medicine

1. Concentrative meditation involves repeating a word or mantra while focusing exclusively on the word or an object. This is the type of meditation most are familiar with.

2. Mindfulness meditation does not focus on a word or object but on the thoughts, feelings and sensation that arise during this period of quiet.

3. Expressive meditation adds action to the meditative practice so one may chant, dance, walk, shake, whirl or engage in fast deep breathing.

It is an individual choice as to which method may be employed. Some meditations will involve combinations of the three.

CHAKRA BALANCE
When there is a blockage or imbalance in one part of the chakra system, it has an impact on all the other chakras. Imbalances occur when there is too much or too little energy flowing through the chakras. By understanding how each chakra affects a particular body function and life issue, it is possible to identify where a chakra is malfunctioning. Various techniques can then be used to balance the chakra system and restore health in the individual physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Holding negative thoughts causes chakras to become dirty with dense, dark energy. This prevents chakras from providing sufficient vital energy for the body. Unbalanced or “blocked” chakras create a whole range of mental, emotional, and physiological conditions.
